Have you ever wondered how you can build greater capacity into your firm, so that you free up your people to do more of the higher-value work? In this podcast discussion with Dave Clough and Andy Guy from FD Intelligence, we unpack the value, the power, the simplicity, arguably, of introducing robot process automation into your firm in a deeper way. If you're not already working with it, you should take this seriously. I think this is a profoundly valuable discussion with both Dave and Andy because of the time freedom that it can potentially bring to every accountancy firm – time freedom that enables people to think, enables people to deliver high-quality customer care and, as a result, builds a more profitable, more valuable firm. I hope you enjoy and value this discussion as much as I did. The Solution:
The leadership team will see there's some low hanging fruit that's not going to take much time and they can get that up and running relatively easily. But they see a big prize up in the top right-hand corner, and think, if we can crack that, we're going to make so much money and it's going to revolutionise the business.
The problem some firms have is that they focus on that top right big project and they never get started because they find it too complex and they lose traction. They then lose the confidence of the teams involved.
You're better off starting off very small, very specific and delivering in two or three areas first, so that the business gets confidence, the teams around that operation get confidence and feel like they love what they do and are not fearful of their jobs.
Once this is achieved, you can accelerate this to bring in the strategy, and then once you’ve got that in place you can start going for the medium or high complexity work.
If you start off too complex at the beginning, it's probably going to fail because it will take too long to deliver and it will lose momentum.

Resources relating to this podcast:
During the podcast, Paul, Andy and Dave talk about the importance of using your time well and how using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) can enable you and your team to stop doing some things. They talk about using the RPA to do mundane tasks, enabling you to focus on being client-centric.
They deliver the gift of time.
If you want to discover what to stop doing in your firm and what can be done by RPA to free up your time so you can focus on building your client relationships, opening up more lines of communication and developing your team and their learning, click the button below to read the Business Breakthrough report 'Stop to Succeed'.
Time is both finite and precious. Choose what to stop doing and you’re then able to use your finite time more wisely, effectively and profitably.
Ignore your ‘stop doing’ list and you’ll continue to get the same old results.
During this podcast Paul refers to the book The E-Myth Revisited, by Michael E. Gerber, mentioning this quote: 'Systematise the norm, personalise the exceptions.'
This is in relation to a discussion with Andy and Dave about how robots are there to do the mundane, routine work, while still triggering the exceptions that require human interaction, guidance or advice. So by using RPA and humans, you get the best of both worlds. To access the book, click the button below.
