The Story

What do martial arts have to do with running a medium-sized accounting firm? As we learn in this podcast with Rob Newman of Carter Collins & Myer, quite a lot.

We didn't just talk about martial arts, though. In the podcast, we touch on the importance of how we work with our clients and how accountants can genuinely change lives.

We also discuss Rob's LinkedIn style and how he's mastered the art of the inscrutable selfie from his car!

For this and a lot more, please listen to the podcast. Scroll down this episode page for the contact information for Rob and for the additional, downloadable resources mentioned in the podcast.

The Solution:

The only way to overcome that is to keep going and keep going and turning up and following the lessons and listening and practising and training and working.

It's the same in business; business is entirely that. Most of business fundamentally is boring. It's not glamorous and sexy; it's boring, but it's consistently, continuously doing it to the highest standard that you can achieve.

And you won't always be amazing, and it will go wrong, and stuff happens, but you've got to just keep standing up and keep getting going.

And 100% that's completely martial arts. I have no athletic ability whatsoever, other than what I learned and what I kept training. I was not and have never been a natural athlete, and yet I had 33 fights and won 30 of them.
